Back last year on Thursday 3 Oct 2024 Sliced bread focused their 30 mins of attention to floatation therapy and got in specialists to discuss the benefits of the experience, therapy and environment that sensory deprivation can provide. Also known as R.E.S.T. - Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy.
Whilst the show did provide a rich dose of float knowledge that a lot of new and seasoned floaters will find useful, we feel the people on this show weren't giving floating the depth and credit it's due in the emotional and energetic realms, which to be fair to them, are very difficult to share in a wider scientific understanding. Especially given how little research there is out there.
The show hosts mentioned being bored. Being bored in a float tank is simply a reflection of your inner state and something that only you can invite yourself in to explore deeper, looking at the underlying emotion beneath the discomfort.
The conversation did shed some glorious light on how floating has been proven to really reduce stress, muscle tension and pain, assist in visual imagery/creativity and mental clarity.
Further research, such as the work at the Float Research Collective (linked) will reveal more in time as projects develop.
